Peyronie’s disease, also known as penile curvature, causes a man’s penis to curve or bend.
Peyronie’s disease happens when scar tissue called plaque forms under the skin of the penis.

While the exact causes are not clear, experts believe the disease may result from an acute (short term) injury to the penis, repeated injury to the penis or from autoimmune disease.
Peyronie’s is diagnosed by a urologist based on clinical history and physical exam. Treatment options may include oral medications, penile injections and surgery.
